FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No, in Australia, Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, so a referral is not required. However, if your Doctor or Specialist has provided you with a referral, please bring it along to your appointment.
-
We offer a range of initial appointment types, with sessions typically lasting between 30 to 60 minutes. The duration will depend on the specific type of appointment and your individual needs.

During your first physiotherapy consult, we allocate ample time to thoroughly discuss your condition. Expect personal and detailed questions, particularly if your consultation is related to pelvic floor health. The more information you provide, the more effectively we can diagnose and treat your concerns.
If a vaginal examination is necessary for a comprehensive assessment of your pelvic floor, we will discuss this with you on the day of your consult to ensure you are comfortable and informed.
-
Please bring the following to your physiotherapy appointment:
Completed Registration and Consent Forms: We will send these to you via email before your appointment. Please ensure you have submitted these online. If we do not have completed copies of your registration and consent form you may be asked to complete them in the clinic.
Previous Documentation: Any relevant reports or documentation from other health professionals regarding your condition can be very helpful for your assessment and treatment.
If you have any questions or need assistance with these documents, feel free to reach out to us before your appointment.

You might benefit from a pelvic floor assessment if you experience any of the following:
Urinary or Faecal Incontinence: Leakage of urine or stool, or a strong urge to go frequently.
Vaginal Heaviness or Dragging: A sensation of weight or pressure in the pelvic region.
Pain with Sex: Discomfort or pain during or after sexual activity.
Lower Abdominal or Back/Coccyx Pain: Persistent pain in these areas, which could be related to pelvic floor issues.
Post-Childbirth Concerns: If you have had children and are experiencing symptoms like urinary leakage or pelvic pain.
Uncertainty About Pelvic Floor Function: If you're unsure how to activate or relax your pelvic floor muscles, a pelvic floor assessment can provide clarity and guidance.
If you have any of these symptoms or concerns, a pelvic floor assessment can be highly informative and beneficial for understanding and improving your pelvic health.

Yes, you can still attend your pelvic floor physiotherapy appointment while you have your period. It’s very common for people to continue their sessions during menstruation, and your physiotherapist is experienced in working with clients at all stages of their cycle.
If your appointment involves internal assessment or treatment, this can still be performed safely and effectively during your period. However, if you feel uncomfortable with this, please let your physiotherapist know, your comfort is always our priority. In most cases, there are still plenty of valuable aspects of your treatment that can be covered during your session, such as education, exercise progressions, or other external techniques.
If you’d prefer to reschedule, we completely understand. Please refer to our cancellation and rescheduling policy for details about notice periods and fees.

Absolutely! Children are always welcome to attend appointments. If you need to bring your baby to your physio consult, feel free to do so. We understand that juggling appointments with little ones can be challenging, and we’re here to accommodate your needs.

You can start seeing a pelvic floor physiotherapist as soon as you feel ready after giving birth. Generally, around 3-4 weeks postpartum is an ideal time to begin, even if you’re not experiencing any noticeable pelvic floor dysfunction. Early assessment and rehabilitation can help you establish a strong foundation for recovery and prevent potential issues. However, it’s never too early or too late to start caring for your pelvic floor—your physiotherapist can tailor a program to suit your individual needs at any stage postpartum.

We understand that unexpected situations can arise, and we truly value your time as much as we value ours. To ensure we can continue to offer appointments to clients who may be waiting, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment.
If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled within 36 hours of the scheduled time, a non-rebatable cancellation fee of $60 will apply. (If you have already paid a booking fee, it will be applied as the cancellation fee.)
If you are unable to attend in person within the late-notice period, we’re happy to offer a telehealth appointment at your scheduled time so you can still benefit from your session. If you choose to decline this option, the cancellation fee will still apply.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us manage our schedule and continue providing the best possible care to all our clients.
